Subscribers at liberty to discontinue at any time on pay ing arrears. Subscribers residing at a dis tance must invariably pay in .advance, or give a responsible reference in this vicinity. No subscription discontinued unless a noti fication to that effect is given. Advertisements, not exceeding 16 lines, will be inserted at 50 cents the first inser tion, and 2.5 cents each continuance. Long er ones at that rate for every 1G lines. Ad vertisements must be marked the number of insertions required, or they will be con tinued until otherwise ordered. aEiMcation. THE Subscriber's School will com mence on Monday, the Sth of Feb ruary, at Maner's Tavern", (formerly known by that name,) for the term of five calendar months; the terms of tui tion, Six Dollars for each student put under his care: Board can be had in the neighborhood for about Four Dollars per month. Should any choose to send by the month, one and a third dollars will be charged by the month. Those young gentlemen who wish to study the art of Surveying, are desired to come on at least two months before the expiration of said term. FREDERICK PHILIPS. RAN AWAY from the Sub scriber, on the 3d inst. negro ANDERSON, About 6 feet hi;h, between 30 and 35 veors of ajjre, middling 'lark complexion, and a large scar on ne of his arms, extending nearly from the elbow to the wrist. Said negro be longs to the estate of James May, dee'd, and was hired by me for the present year; he was brought from the lower pirts of Virginia about twelve years since by Mr. Abner Askew, and I ex pect he will try to get there again. A reasonable reward will be given for the apprehension and delivery of said negro to me at Hickory Grove, Pitt county, C. or to Mr. William May, of said county, Guardian for, the heirs of said estate, or for his confinement in any jail that he can be recovered. He Subscriber offers for sale his well known valuable PLANTATION On Beach Swamp, Containing S00 or 1000 Acres. It has on it a very good dwelling-house for a small family, good framed kitchen and smoke-house, yard and garden well paled in with excellent lasting timbers and all new it has also a good work house, lumber do. &c. with a first rate barn and stables, a good Orchard (of the best selected fruit) sufficiently able to make 20 or 30 barrels of brandy with every convenience for saving it, a good framed shelter 64 by 32, a still, shelter, &c. The plantation is now in excellent repair and under a first-rate fence and is sufficiently large, , to work 10 or 12 hands to an advantage, with several ne ver failing springs and branches, which make it very convenient for watering stock, &c. I particularly invite all per sons disposed to purchase, to call and examine for themselves as 1 shall re move to Florida by the spring. To one who is determined to remain in North-Carolina such a situation is truly desirable, in point of truth it is not sur passed by any in the county. T is ordered by the Court, that in fu ture no witness in any civil suit liv ing in this County, shall be allowed pay for attendance on Monday and Tuesday of any Term, and that the Clerk be re quired to note in such subpoena issued by him, that said witness is to attend on Wednesdays of the Term to which he is summoned and that the Clerk give no tice of this Order by advertisement at the Court-house door and in the Tarbo rough Free Press for three months.. Price 25 cents each. The following pa ragraph is extracted from the above act: "XV. And be it further enacted. That it shall be the duty of the Clerks of the Coun ty and Superior Courts to keep a copy of this act posted up in their respective offir ces, and in the Court-hcuse, in some con spicuous place during the sitting of each Court, under a penalty of fifty dollars, to be recovered before any justice of the peace by any person suing for the same," February 4.
